Jews, Jehovah's Witnesses, Buddhists and some Christians don't celebrate Christmas sad right I know but the reason they don't is that they don't believe in the faith of Christmas. The reason they don't is because it doesn't say in the bible that Jesus was born on the 25th of December. He didn't even celebrate his own birthday.
Some people don't celebrate Christmas because they don't have enough money, but thats for every religion to decide. Instead of Christmas they celebrate other holidays. Some of them which are like Christmas.
Jews don't celebrate anything to do with Christmas at all they haven't even made a holiday instead of it. Weird I know, buts thats just what they believe and thats fine.
I am a Year 8 student at Tauranga Intermediate School in New Zealand. I am in Rm42 and my teacher is Miss Campbell.

Daily Blog Post; Third World Countrie
Third world countries are basically the one who are living in poverty. They are the ones like Mali, Asia and Africa. The one that I am going to talk to you about is Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a country full of wars. Most days there is something on the news about Afghanistan, at the moment the wars are affecting the world. Many people for many different countries have died and that is a serious issue. I mean they're not even fighting for their own country. The estimated population is 31, 108, 077 but I think it is a lot worse than that. It is a third world country because of the low economics and the high birth rates.

Kyoto, Japan is a very busy place with a population of 1.474 million people set in 2010. Kyoto is the imperial capital of Japan. However Tokyo is the main capital of the island with the population of 6 million!! For a small island Japan is definitely a squished country. For the past week we have had a Japanese student with us his name in Masanao.

45 Minutes Inquiry; ....a rose by any other name....
….a rose by any other name….
This quote comes from a very old play called Romeo & Juliet. The person who says this quote is Juliet however this isn't the full quote the full quote is “O! Be some other name: What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. This means what matters is what something is not what it is called. She said it because her father doesn't like that Romeo is a Montage and she is saying who cares if he is called a Montage it is just a name.
The play was written in the 1600s by a great man called William Shakespeare. He wrote it for Juliet to say. It is a very common saying as it is a very famous play.
Daily Blog Post; Write a letter to santa
Dear Santa
I am writing to you to say what a wonderful person you are. You are really good at your job, I mean 2 billion people or children in one night!! That is amazing seriously I mean I can't even see 1 million children in a day. It must be seriously cold where you live I mean you're in the North pole its like the coldest place on earth, but I supposed eating Mrs Claus's cooking and sitting in front of the fire warms you up. It must be so cool having those super powers I mean going under doors.
What I really want for Christmas is an iPad. The reason I want it is because my sister in the laptop class next year and she'll be using this one and I won't have anything to work on and an iPad would be perfect its the right size and everything. I would also like to get a new duvet I'm kind of growing out of the one I have I don't want one with animals on it, because they make me feel childish. I know I already have a pair I would like some new converse low tops because I'm getting a bit tired of my high tops I found some that I really like that have a flower print on them. Santa, I would also like a book called finish this book. Its a great book where you have to finish everything that isn't complete. It would give me some challenges that would be fun to complete.
I think that I am willing and helpful enough to get these things. I mean I help my mum all the time and I always help around the house. The only reason I wouldn’t get these things as I don’t pick up after myself around the house. I mean I just forget and do something else and it does take heaps effort.
Anyway I just wanted to let you know how awesome you are and what I would like for Christmas, Merry Christmas.

I wonder where i'm going, what am I going to get made into? I come from Gisborne i'm one of the only ones from Gisborne most of the others come from foreign countries like Asia and China. I turned 20 yesterday but yet they still cut me down. Me and my friends have been nervous of this. People make $32,000 because of me yet I get nothing but absolute torcher. I'm numbered as 136, I could be paper now but i'm waiting I think i'm next. Its a terrible feeling. Different pieces of me in different bags all over the world. My ship is still on the harbour it usually stays for three days but for some reason its staying longer.

45 Minute Inquiry
Curling
Curling is a worldwide sport played in many countries. To play curling you need brooms not just ordinary brooms but brooms that are specially made for this sport they are used to reduce the friction and clear any little lumps of ice out of the way, you also need a rock. A rock is like a big puck that weighs in between 17-20 kgs. Stones cost $600 - 700 which is a lot of money the brooms aren't allowed to touch the rock at all or you are out and it is the same if your rock touches the side of the rink you are also out. You also need special shoes that stop you from slipping on the ice. This is all played on one massive oblong ice rink.
To get points you need to get your rock to the middle of the house the house is the points board. The closer you get to the middle the more points you get. Just like darts.
Curling originated in th 15th century in scotland. In 1897 people used to play this game in winter on a frozen lake. They used actual brooms.
